I have tried the search function, but all it does is show me the newest posts. Anyhow, I have read that the FZ09 is limited to roughly 130 mph electronically. If this is true, has anyone ever had a reflash to get rid of the limiter only and see what the bike is capable of? I'm talking absolutely bone stock. Bone stock bike with just the limiter removed. Sorry if this has been covered, but like I said the search function isn't doing much for me. Also, I am a newb so I don't even know if this is possible. LOL. Just curious as to how fast the bike would be flat out if it wasn't limited and had ZERO other mods. Thanks.

Yep, this has been covered, but the search function on this site is not the greatest. The limit is apparently set at 132 MPH from the factory. A flashed bike (speed limiter removed) will hit about 164 MPH assuming it can overcome the wind resistance. The picture at the bottom of this page shows that.

Begs the question of why would you want to ride 164 mph on a naked bike? 145 mph on the front straight at Spokane County Raceway on fully faired bikes (VFR, CB600R F2) is about my comfort limit. 70-80 mph corners (the ones that say I should be going 30mph) are much more fun!

I have the vcycle flash, and I hit 140. That was about as fast as I want to go!!

Thanks. I don't want to go any faster on a naked. I was just curious. Thanks for the replays.

While I didn't get this bike for top speed runs, I must admit that I've bounced off the speed limiter more times than I should have done...
That said, if you're looking for a top speed bike, look else where. If you're just curious about what it CAN do, then yeah...Have a look at the link above.

Unfortunately, 09's run a bit rich in space. I guess we're stuck with wind.

There has been at least one vid showing a MT09 at 271 km/h on the road, that is an actual 244. MT speedos are 10% fast, at least.

That's interesting. My 2017 FZ-09 has an accurate speedo. The only other bike I've had that had an accurate one was my 2011 CB1000R. All the rest have been 5-10% optimistic.

It's been noted that the US bikes have a much more accurate speedo (3% error) than non US models.

few things, vcycle claims to account for speedo error when he flashes so you see real speed after your flash,.(pretty sure i read that on his site)
the ivans page top speed is with 300 rpm extension into the redline, which i dont thing vcycle does( maybe upon request), whereas vcycle just removes the 6th gear 9krpm gov' to natural redline.
OP sry i cant answer your question, i just got flashed by vcycle about a two weeks ago but i still have my tkc80's on for winter and i have not tried to get 160 on those, and not sure if i will. i know people have touched 140 on tks80s then backed off, but idk, at what point does stupid become suicide? haha. not sure why so many people get butt hurt when asking about top speed on fz's? no, im not interested in busas, stop telling me to look at another bike if i want top speed, just a question, 160 is not that fast. doesnt mean i dont love the fz

260 klm per hour on a Busa tucked in behind the screen is plenty fast enough...I shudder to think what any speed in excess of 140 mph would be like on a naked like the 09.

with a turbo who knows.....

oh you said stock,

never had it past 110.

if you have to ask, you probably wont ever have your FZ maxed out at its limit anyways.

US DOT says speedo must be accurate.

Curiously ADR (Australian Design Regulations) require the speed shown to be 5-8% optimistic. They think it slows you down. And speedo error is not a defense for a ticket in Aus, it's your responsibility to know your speed - grrr!

ABS bikes (2017+) measure speed on the ABS ring on front wheel, and therefore unless you change to a funky wheel are accurate.

Non ABS bikes use a sensor on the countershaft sprocket and therefore are effected by changes in gearing and rear tire size.

I've had my 2017 to 139mph and not at the rev limiter. It's a stock ECU, so perhaps the 2017+ bikes have a higher limit?

It's horrible at that speed, head bouncing in the wind, not fun.

Not really sure what you mean by your last comment. "if you have to ask, you probably won't ever have your FZ maxed out at its limit anyway". I was just curious. I have ridden the bike for a total of 10 miles due to the fact that it is winter time in Connecticut.

well since it has a digital dash , that must be why you're asking,

just my guess, but you will never find out when it stops making power, because you'll never find a road to try and max out the fz's top speed.

its not something I would get on and try and set a land speed record.

doubt there are any articles on how fast the FZ will go, but there are articles out there on the 0-60 mph times.

0-60 its pretty fast, compared to other motorcycles.

Funny you should say that ausrobbo about abs bikes 17 plus being accurate...mine is a 15 with ABS and is the customary optimistic 10% over...I used a GPS to check my speedo when everyone always seemed to be passing me...sure enough almost 8 k's under....I feel so safe here in WA...lol!

I think that's the stupid Aus ADR rules. Using a 10Hz GPS logger mine reads within 1% (2017 FZ09 USA ABS model).
My 2009 ZX14 in Sydney was out by 10% too so I installed a Speedohealer to fix it.

2017 here as well. Stock I've maxed out at 132mph.

After ECU flash I've been to 159mph, probably could've gone a few mph more if I kept going.
For a naked bike it felt actually not too bad and decently stable. I do have a GPR V4 steering stabilizer and a Givi windscreen that helps pushing the wind over me in a tucked position tho
